Risk & AI Business Analyst

Eastern Eu · Full-time · Senior

About The Position

Matrix is seeking a Risk & AI Business Analyst to translate client business needs into clear requirements and measurable outcomes across Matrix’s fraud and financial crime solutions. You will partner with financial institution stakeholders and internal teams (Project Management, Solutions Architecture, Data Engineering, and Risk & Analytics) to support implementations, configuration, validation, and ongoing optimization. This role blends domain knowledge, analytical thinking, and strong communication to improve detection performance, investigation workflows, and operational efficiency.

You will collaborate closely with Matrix Risk Consultants, Data Scientists, and client teams to deliver solutions that align to risk appetite, regulatory expectations, and operational goals.

What You’ll Do

• Lead discovery and requirements gathering: Facilitate workshops and interviews to document business requirements, fraud scenarios, and investigative workflows.

• Translate regulatory and policy needs into functional specs: Convert compliance expectations (e.g., BSA/AML, PSD2 SCA) into clear, testable system requirements and user stories.

• Support solution design: Partner with Solutions Architecture to define an implementation approach aligned to client goals and Matrix product capabilities.

• Own data mappings and event flows: Define data requirements, map fields/events, and validate inputs to ensure accurate rules, scoring, alerting, and case workflows.

• Produce configuration documentation: Create functional specifications that guide platform configuration, workflow setup, and operating procedures.

• Coordinate testing and validation: Support UAT by developing test scenarios/scripts, validating end-to-end behavior, and documenting results and defects.

• Enable client teams: Deliver training sessions and documentation (user guides, runbooks, process flows) for operations and technical stakeholders.

• Manage change and support: Triage enhancement requests and production issues, coordinating resolution across client and Matrix teams.

• Drive continuous improvement: Lead post-implementation reviews, capture lessons learned, and contribute to reusable assets and product/documentation enhancements.

What We’re Looking For

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Information Systems, Risk Management, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Experience: 5+ years in fraud risk, business analysis, risk operations, or implementation/delivery roles within financial services or fintech.

• Domain knowledge: Understanding of fraud typologies, risk analysis, transaction monitoring, and alert/case management workflows.

• Data skills: Working proficiency with SQL and comfort using Excel and/or BI tools (Power BI, Tableau) to validate requirements and outcomes.

• Requirements & documentation: Ability to write clear business requirements, functional specifications, and user stories that support configuration and testing.

• Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with experience facilitating workshops and presenting to client stakeholders.

• Client-facing delivery: Comfortable managing stakeholders, aligning on scope and priorities, and driving decisions to closure.

• Testing: Experience supporting functional testing/UAT, defining test scenarios, and coordinating issue triage across teams.

• Working style: Organized, adaptable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
