AML / Payment Technology Director

About The Position

About the Role:

Matrix IFS is seeking a highly experienced AML / Payment Technology Manager at the Director level to lead strategic initiatives in Anti-Money Laundering (AML) compliance and payment technology solutions. This role combines deep expertise in financial crime prevention with advanced knowledge of payment systems and regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Strategy
  • Define and execute the AML technology roadmap aligned with global compliance standards.
  • Oversee implementation and optimization of AML monitoring tools (e.g., NICE Actimize, FICO, or similar platforms).
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to ensure payment systems meet regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Technology & Innovation
  • Drive integration of AML solutions with payment platforms and core banking systems.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies to enhance fraud detection and transaction monitoring capabilities.
  • Ensure scalability and security of AML systems across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Compliance & Risk Management
  • Maintain adherence to global AML regulations, including FATF, OFAC, and local regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and enforce policies for transaction monitoring, sanctions screening, and suspicious activity reporting.
  • Partner with internal audit and risk teams to address compliance gaps and mitigate risks.
  • Team Management
  • Lead and mentor a team of AML technology specialists and analysts.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Finance, or related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in AML technology, payment systems, or financial crime compliance.
  • Proven track record in implementing AML solutions and managing large-scale technology projects.
  • Strong knowledge of global AML regulations and payment industry standards.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with NICE Actimize, FICO, or similar AML platforms.
  • Familiarity with ISO 20022, SWIFT, and real-time payment systems.
  • Advanced understanding of data analytics and machine learning for fraud detection.
